About Us (Woven History / Silk Road) Woven History and Silk Road offer an exceptionally rich and ever-expanding gallery of weavings and other artifacts from Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakystan, Kyrgystan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Bosnia, Macedonia, Moldova, Yemen and Egypt. Mehmet Yalcin, the proprietor, frequently travels along the ancient Silk Road and visits the looms, villages, bazaars, and tribal groups. There he purchases one of a kind, collectible weavings, including rugs, kilims, saddle-bags, salt-bags, and other weavings. Mehmet feels that hand-selecting the textiles he imports is the key to consistently ensure the quality of his merchandise. Sometimes several hundred rugs must be carefully viewed in order to pick only two or three pieces. Appraising, Repairing, Cleaning, and Acquiring We offer appraising and have our in-house repairmen. Additionally, we do our own cleaning in the traditional manner and buy and sell. New Shipments Woven History and Silk Road receive shipments three times a year from different parts of the World. Custom Design Woven History offers you the possibility to apply your creativity. We offer custom design as long as we are provided with the design, size, color combination and quality desired. However, as it is, we do have something for everyone at any time at Woven History. Wholesale We also wholesale. Since we produce, import, and wholesale, we do not deal with middlemen or suppliers.
